A Raposa, o Corvo e a Cultura Celta / The Fox, the Crow and the Celtic Culture

  Ano passado sonhei que estava ajudando o Cláudio a carregar várias coisas percorrendo escadas e corredores. Coisas como vitrola, discos, rádio de toca-fitas. Ele estava com uma aparência séria e num determinado momento, chegamos num apartamento onde havia uma pessoa deitada e coberta, o que me impossibilitou de reconhecê-la. Eu deixo os aparelhos de áudio no local, ele fala com ela e em seguida, saímos do apartamento. A interpretação que meu psicólogo deu a este sonho na época era sobre o meu apego ao passado - ao carregar coisas antigas - e a seriedade da expressão do Cláudio refletindo que eu preciso me divertir mais.

  Uma vez, a convite da prima coruja, fui ao Finnegan's. É um pub que fica em São Paulo, onde o namorado dela iria tocar com um amigo, o tal do Cláudio. Já acomodado no bar me deliciando com um pint de Guinness, eis que o Jorge começa a tocar violino ao lado do Cláudio, no violão. E o som logo de cara me impressionou: era uma música típica irlandesa! Foi a primeira vez que ouvi "Whiskey In The Jar" na sua versão "raíz", assim como uma sequência de músicas animadas, ideais para se ouvir em um ambiente como um pub! A partir daí, não só me interessei pelas músicas como quem seria o amigo do Jorge.

  Seus posts no Facebook merecem atenção: é um mundo a parte do que se costuma se ver, com uma sabedoria de espiritualidade, arte, história e cultura. Profundo conhecedor da história do Arsenal, também aprendi mais sobre os jogadores notáveis que passaram por este tradicional clube inglês. Costuma tocar em pubs acompanhado de sua banda a qual marcará presença em algum lugar para comemorar o Saint Patrick's Day.

  Recentemente participei de uma oficina entitulada como "Música Irlandesa: Ritmo, Palavra e Alma Celta". Organizada pelo Cláudio, foi realizada no espaço Feminino Essencial, em São Paulo. Ao avistar os degraus que levaria até o espaço, tive uma sensação de déjà vu - me lembrei imediatamente do sonho que relatei no primeiro parágrafo. Neste dia, conheci pessoalmente a Patrícia Fox, responsável pelo espaço da oficina. Eu não disponho de conhecimento técnico para afirmar, mas acredito que a decoração do local faz uso do feng shui e proporciona o bem estar. Havia alguns quadros com referência hinduístas, outros voltados para a arte e nesta atmosfera me transmitia uma calma e um relaxamento que senti em poucos lugares.

  Logo que começou a aula, meu primeiro arrependimento foi que eu deveria ter levado um caderno para anotar tudo: o conhecimento no tema que ele possuí é tão vasto e detalhado que a analogia que me veio à cabeça foi que eu me senti entrando no Louvre mas o guardinha me permitiu visitar o museu por apenas 30 minutos! Se eu tivesse anotado, quem sabe eu teria um material mais próximo do que ele apresentou na aula. Entretanto, quem tava lá pôde perceber como era nítido que ele adoraria nos contar muito do que conhece nas poucas horas que ficamos lá, ao mesmo tempo em que eu fiquei mais curioso ainda em saber mais sobre a cultura Celta! O tempo voa quando o assunto é fascinante!!!

  Achei fantástico em saber que para os irlandeses, o instrumento musical mais nobre é a harpa, tanto que a primeira bandeira da Irlanda, datada do século XVII, havia uma harpa no centro. Um dos maiores símbolos do país e também o instrumento principal dos bardos e poetas, a harpa retrata a luta de um povo pela sua preservação e de sua liberdade e identidade cultural. Pode-se ver a harpa em diversas lendas e mitos da Irlanda, como em marcas de vários segmentos, desde companhias aéreas, logotipo de jornais e é claro, na própria Guinness.

  Quando o Cláudio colocou a música dos Clancy Brothers para tocar, logo pensei: "Mas isso é muito semelhante com as primeiras músicas da carreira do Bob Dylan!" - E eu não estava errado. De fato, o jovem Robert Zimmermann foi influenciado pelo folk irlandês deste grupo, tanto que não só tocaram juntos em clubes de Nova Iorque no começo dos anos 60 como também fez o estadunidense a se interessar pela melodia e nos temas heróicos abordados. Os heróis de Dylan são Woody Guthrie e os Clancy Brothers. Ainda falando de música, poderia citar os Dubliners, também voltado para o folk irlandês, que influenciou o Thin Lizzy a compôr sua versão de "Whiskey In The Jar", além de ser apreciada por bandas como Floggin' Molly e Dropkick Murphys.

  Infelizmente paro por aqui sobre a oficina incrível ministrada por Claudio Crow. Minha memória não é o bastante para registrar tanta informação. Se tiverem a oportunidade de conversar com ele, saberão que nada do que escrevi aqui é exagero. A conclusão que tirei da aula dele foi que inconscientemente, eu já tinha minha influência celta: eu adoro uma banda que um de seus músicos tocam harpa (Florence and The Machine); Bob Dylan para mim é simplesmente o terceiro artista mais influente do mundo do rock; tenho uma profunda curiosidade em artes, coisa que o universo celta é bastante rico, desde sua mitologia a seus entrelaçados nós... O contato com a cultura celta nos proporciona entender muito do que somos no mundo ocidental, assim como escreveu o homenageado deste post.

  Last year I dreamed I was helping Claudio to carry some stuffs wandering stairs and corridors. Things like victrola, discs, tape deck. He was a serious looking and in a certain moment, we arrived on a room where there was a person laid and covered, what was impossible to me to recognize her. I left the audio set in this room, he talks to her and then we go out. According to my psychologist's interpretation, I'm addicted to the past - carrrying old things - and Claudio's earnestness in his expression is reflecting I need to have more fun.

  Once, by the invitation of my cousin, I went to the Finnegan's. It's a pub located in São Paulo, where her boyfriend would play with a friend called Claudio. Already accomodated at the bar delighting one pint of Guinness, behold Jorge starts to play violin beside Claudio, playing guitar. That song soon impresses me: it was a typical Irish song! It was the first time I heard "Whiskey In The Jar" in a root version, as well as a sequence of cheerful tunes, ideal to listen in a environment as a pub! Thenceforth, I didn't get interest just on music but who would be Jorge's friend.

  His posts on Facebook deserve attetion: it's a world apart from what use to watch, with a spirituality wisdom, arts, history and culture. An expert of Arsenal's history, I could learn more about the notable players who passed through this English traditional football club. He use to play in pubs followed by his band which will be present in some place to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day.

  Recently I attended a workshop entitled "Irish Music: Rhythm, Word and Celtic Soul". Organized by Claudio, it was held on Feminino Essencial space, in São Paulo. As soon as I saw the steps, I had a sense of déjà vu - I remembered immediately of the dream I related on first paragraph. That day I knew personally Patricia Fox, responsible by workshop's space. I don't have technical knowledge to affirm, but I believe the adornment of that place use concepts of feng shui and provides well-being. There was some paitings with Hindu reference, others focused on art and in this atmosphere transmitted to me a stillness and relaxation I felt in few rooms.

  When the class started, my first regret was I should have taken a notebook in order to take notes: the knowledge he has is so vast and full of details that the analogy it came to my mind was I felt step into Louvre but guard allowed me to visit the museum for just 30 minutes! If I had taken notes, who knows I would have gained a nearer material of what he showed me in class. However, who were there could notice how clear he would love to tell us a lot of what he knows on the few hours we stayed there, and also I was more curious to know more about Celtic Culture! Time flies when the subject is fascinating!!!

  I thought amazing to notice for the Irish, the most noble musical instrument is the harp. It appears on first flag of Ireland, from XVII century. One of the biggest symbols of country, also is the main instrument of minstrels and poets, harp symbolizes the fight of a nation for their preservation and by their liberty and cultural identity. We can see harp in various legends and myths of Ireland, as trademarks on diverse segments, from airlines, newspaper's logo and off course, on Guinness.

  The same time Claudio put a Clancy Brothers' song to play, I imagined how it was quite similar to the first songs of Bob Dylan's career! - And I wasn't wrong. In fact, young Robert Zimmermann was influenced by Irish folk of this group. They played together in clubs in New York in the beginning of Sixties and also made the American to be interested by their melody and heroic themes debated. Dylan heroes are Woody Guthrie and the Clancy Brothers. Yet talking about music, I could mention the Dubliners, also an Irish folk band, which influenced Thin Lizzy to write their version of "Whiskey In The Jar". Furthermore, Dubliners is appreciated by bands like Floggin' Molly and Dropkick Murphys.

  Unfortunately I stop here to talk about the magnificent workshop given by Claudio Crow. My memory isn't enough to register so much information. If you have an opportunity to speak to him, you're going to perceive that nothing I wrote here is a overstatement. The conclusion I got from his class that unconsciously I have already possessed my Celtic influence: I love a band which one of their musicians play harp (Florence and The Machine); Bob Dylan is simply the third most influent artist on world of rock in my opinion; I got a deep curiosity in arts, which Celtic universe is really rich, from his mythology to his intertwined knots... The touch with Celtic Culture provide us understand a lot of what we are on Western world, like the honored man of this post wrote.
