A segunda edição do Lollapalooza Brasil teve vários aspectos que me agradaram - e desagradaram. Vamos a eles.
Pontos positivos: não tive problemas com filas quilométricas para entrar no Jockey como no ano passado. Nesse sentido ficou mais organizado. Para quem precisava de papel higiênico, havia à disposição perto dos banheiros químicos, até mesmo uma pia para lavar a mão. A pontualidade do evento é muito boa para quem depende de transporte público na volta. A equipe de resgate está de parabéns, pois ontem presenciei um cara passando mal e imediatamente foi socorrido, sendo carregado de maca e abrindo espaço no meio da multidão, tudo com agilidade e cuidado.
Pontos negativos: por conta da chuva, havia muita lama, o que dificultava a transição de um palco para o outro. O cheiro de esterco em alguns pontos do Jockey também foi péssimo. Pode até ser necessária aquela fila para provar que você tem acima de 18 anos para comprar bebida alcoólica, mas eu não tenho saco para encarar 3 filas pra tomar cerveja. Nem de Heineken eu gosto tanto. Acho válido comentar que o line up prejudicou algumas bandas.
Sobre as bandas que eu vi no dia 29/03:
Of Monsters And Men: apesar de eu ter visto pouco do show do sexteto islandês, arriscaria dizer que foi um show muito bom! Eles no palco me lembraram o Arcade Fire no Tim Festival 2005: as vozes, a variedade de instrumentos, a forma como eles tocam e interagem com o público dá um tom mágico, transmitindo que estão conectados com as músicas que executam ao vivo.
The Temper Trap: a banda australiana de Dougy Mandagi tem como destaque o próprio vocalista, além de músicas bem elaboradas e Joseph Greer tocando guitarra e teclado, com um backing vocal vívido. Eu só achei que o repertório ficou muito estável, mas não deixa de ter um som bonito.
Crystal Castles: o duo canadense teve problemas com a qualidade do som - em boa parte da performance, o som estava muito baixo, ocorria alguns zunidos e a Alice Glass parecia se esgoelar ao cantar, mas a voz não saía. Ainda assim, o repertório agradou e havia um público que vibrou com músicas como "Not In Love" e "Crimewave".
The Flaming Lips: eu tenho um certo carinho por esta banda. Wayne Coyne é o carisma em pessoa; ele é muito honesto quanto às suas emoções e a performance festiva que presenciei no Claro q é rock foi fenomenal. Infelizmente, eu diria que foram prejudicados por 2 fatores: a grande maioria do público foi para ver the Killers, e boa parte deste público não conhece nada do Flaming Lips. O repertório da banda também não ajudou, chegando a um momento em que estava maçante escutá-los. Os aviões que passavam tão baixo impressionou o vocalista, tanto que em alguns momentos ele esperava passar um e fez o público acenar um tchau.
The Killers: a grande atração de sexta ganhou fácil o público. Tocando inúmeros hits, a banda de Brandon Flowers fez uma apresentação incrível, com direito a fogos e pedaços de papéis caindo no pessoal, a chuva foi deixada de lado. Embora nenhuma matéria tenha dado destaque para algum músico, eu citaria o próprio Brandon Flowers pela sua simpatia e gratidão demonstrada, sendo um frontman de respeito; Ronnie Vannucci Jr para mim é um grande colaborador do show: é a batida dele, com força e cadência que faz todo mundo dançar.
Bandas que eu vi no dia 30/03:
Tomahawk: é impressionante o que Mike Patton é capaz, mesmo em seus projetos paralelos ao Faith No More. Sobre a voz dele, dispenso apresentações - é simplesmente uma das vozes mais versáteis do nosso tempo. Metal alternativo de primeira e com comentários cômicos em português de um gênio. A banda tem o Mike Patton no vocal? Não perca este show por nada!
Two Door Cinema Club: esse foi um dos shows mais aguardados por mim. Fiquei surpreso que havia bastante gente cantando junto - e não, eles não estavam lá só para se antecipar a ter seu lugar reservado para o próximo show, que era o QOTSA. Sam Halliday é um vocalista super educado, agradecendo a cada música executada. Alex Trimble é um guitarrista muito criativo e a banda em si agradou em cheio a multidão, botando todo mundo pra dançar! Fantástico!
Alabama Shakes: eu admito que não fui até o palco alternativo para conferir o show da banda de Alabama, mas pelo que ouvi, os americanos fizeram um som gostoso de se escutar, tipicamente Southern Rock. O que mais gostei neles foram a voz de Brittany Howard e o baixo forte e presente de Zac Cockrell.
Queens Of The Stone Age: a banda que eu mais queria ver foi o responsável pelo show mais explosivo do Lollapalooza. Não sabia que Josh Homme fosse tão simpático! Ele realmente estava agradecido por ser prestigiado por nós. Foi uma performance impecável, do começo até o fim, tocando hits e até uma faixa inédita. Os dois músicos que eu faria menções honrosas do QOTSA: o guitarrista Troy Van Leeuwen e o baterista Jon Theodore. Sem dúvida, uma das melhores bandas de rock desde que surgiu, principalmente pela autenticidade.
Eu não vi a apresentação do A Perfect Circle - ficava muito longe do palco Cidade Jardim; a única certeza que tive é que o som do Criolo tava alto demais a ponto de não se escutar nada do APC.
The Black Keys: sabe quando a banda não te empolga? Eles tocaram vários sucessos, fez um show coerente. Só que senti falta de algo para me dar vontade de ficar lá, de ver o show mais de perto. Não me aguçou em nada. Tanto que fui embora mais cedo. Eu acredito que para quem é fã, capaz que tenha agradado, mas mesmo falando pelo público, não cheguei a ver um bom entusiasmo por eles estarem no palco.

The second edition of Lollapalooza Brazil had some aspects delighted me - and displeased me. Let's go to them.
Positive points: I didn't have problems with kilometric queues to come into Jockey as last year. In this way it became more organized. For those who needed a toilet paper, it was available near from chemical toilet, even a washbasin. The event's punctuality is really good for those depend on public transport to go home. The rescue team deserved to be congratulated. Yesterday I saw a guy feeling bad and immediately he was helped, being carried by stretcher and opening space in the middle of the crowd, all with agility and care.
Negative points: because of the rain, there were lots of mud, what it made hard to go from a stage to another. The manure's smell in some places of Jockey was awful too. It may be necessary that queue to prove you're not under 18 years old to buy alcoholic drinks, but I don't have patience to face 3 lines in order to drink beer. I don't like Heineken so much. I think it's good to mention the line up detract several bands.
About the bands I saw March 29th:
Of Monsters And Men: although I saw too short time the sextet from Iceland, I would risk to say it was a very good performance. They reminded me Arcade Fire's concert on Tim Festival 2005: the voices, the variety of instruments, how they played and they interacted with public gave a magic atmosphere, transmitting how they're connected to their songs.
The Temper Trap: the Australian band of Dougy Mandagi highlights the own singer, besides songs well-elaborated and Joseph Greer playing guitar and keyboards, with a vivid backing vocal. I just thought the set list was too stable (with only one kind of emotion, I mean). However, it's nonetheless a beautiful sound.
Crystal Castles: the Canadian duo had problems with sound's quality - in largely time of the concert, sound was too low, it happened some hums and seemed like Alice Glass sang with all her efforts in vain - her voice was also low. Nevertheless, set list delighted and public thrilled with songs such as "Not In Love" and "Crimewave".
The Flaming Lips: I have a certain affection for this band. Wayne Coyne is charisma in person; he is very honest towards his emotions and the festive performance I witnessed on Claro Q É Rock Festival was magnificent. Unfortunately, I would say they were detracted by two factors: most of people were there to see the Killers, and these people didn't know anything about Flaming Lips. Set list didn't help them, coming in a moment it was boring to hear them. The planes were flying low during the concert impressed the singer, who made the crowd waving bye bye to one.
The Killers: the main atraction of Friday gained easily the public. Playing numerous hits, Brandon Flowers' band made a wonderful concert, with fireworks and pieces of papers falling to the crowd, rain was forgotten. Despite none of articles had given highlights to some musician, I would mention the own Brandon Flowers for his empathy and demonstrated gratefulness, being a respectful frontman; Ronnie Vannuci Jr has a major contributor to the performance: it's his beat, with strength and cadence which makes everybody dance.
Bands I saw March, 30th:
Tomahawk: it's impressive what Mike Patton is able, even in his side projects. About his voice, it doesn't need presentations - it's simply one of the most versatile voices of our lifetime. Best Alternative Metal with comic comments in Portuguese of a genius. The band has Mike Patton as a singer? Don't lose this concert for anything!
Two Door Cinema Club: this was one of the concerts most waited for me. I was surprised to see how many people singing together - and they weren't there only to ensure their place reserved to the next concert - QOTSA. Sam Halliday is a super educated singer, thanking each song finished. Alex Trimble is a very creative guitarist and the crew delighted so much the crowd, making the whole crowd to dance! Awesome!
Alabama Shakes: I confess I didn't go to the alternative stage to check the American band. However, from I heard, the guys from Athens made a tasty and good sound to listen, typically Southern Rock. What I most liked them were Brittany Howard's voice and the strong and ubiquity bass of Zac Cockrell.
Queens Of The Stone Age: the band I most wanted to see had the most explosive concert of Lollapalooza. I didn't imagine Josh Homme was so nice! He was really grateful to be prestigious to us. It was flawless performance, from the start to the end, playing hits and even a new song. The two musician I would give honorable mention: guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen and drummer Jon Theodore. No doubt, one of the best rock bands since it came, mainly to their authenticity.
I didn't see A Perfect Circle's concert - it was so far from the Cidade Jardim stage; the only certainty I had was Criolo's sound was loud enough to not hearing anything from APC.
The Black Keys: Do you know when a band doesn't excites you? They played several hits, made a coherent concert. I just missed something to makes me want to stay there, to watch the concert nearer. It doesn't stimulate me in anything. I preferred to go out earlier. I believe for their fans is possible to pleased them, but even speaking about public, I didn't see a good enthusiasm for they being on stage.

Superando um trauma / Overcoming trauma
Eu nunca curti muito praia. Gosto de ir, mas um final de semana tá de bom tamanho. Não gosto do calor, prefiro o frio. Apesar de até gostar de ir para a praia quando está frio, mas este não é o tema deste post.
Quando morei no Japão, cheguei a ter aulas de natação na escola quando era verão. E lá ia todos os japinhas, passando primeiro por uma mini piscina, onde acredito que ocorria alguma higienização para depois adentrar a piscina de verdade. Estava na terceira série e era a única criança que não sabia nadar. Os alunos com empolgação master e eu pensando: "o que eu faço agora?"
Até que as coisas ocorreram bem na escola, mas como foi somente o período de verão, foi pouco para eu aprender a nadar devidamente. O verão japonês costuma durar em torno de um mês de calor intenso; o clima de lá é bem definido: se é calor, é calor pra valer; se é frio, é frio de rachar com direito a neve.
Eis que um dia eu fui para uma piscina junto com um amigo num clube. A piscina estava bem cheia e a água batia um pouco abaixo do meu ombro, o que não era problema algum para mim - mas era para este amigo, um pouco menor que eu. Quando percebi que ele estava com dificuldade de se manter na piscina, o guri se agarrou a mim com todas as forças, de forma que me desequilibrou; eu precisava caminhar até a parede mais próxima da piscina, me desviando do povo e ainda carregando esse cara, tudo isso com a água batendo nas minhas vias respiratórias. É incrível como tem tanta gente e ninguém percebe o que está acontecendo. Finalmente cheguei até a parede; estávamos desesperados para respirar e a partir daí, piscina virou um trauma para mim.
Então quando havia excursões na escola nesses parques aquáticos, simplesmente não ia. Praia, só ia até onde o mar batia na altura da minha cintura e olhe lá.
Os anos se passaram. Houve um momento em que eu pensava em aprender a nadar: sempre me disseram que é um esporte completo, pelos benefícios que traz. Também queria acabar com o medo de vez. Só que eu precisava de tempo e de dinheiro. Até que em agosto de 2008, eu tinha tempo após o trabalho e por trabalhar, também tinha dinheiro.
Comecei a encarar uma piscina de 15m. Entrava nela e seguia as orientações do professor. Era afundar a cabeça na água e levantar, caminhando na piscina. Lembro que no meu primeiro dia de aula, não aguentei ficar 40 minutos.
Com o tempo fui me acostumando a água. Estava aprendendo a nadar crawl: que coisa mais trabalhosa! Exige uma coordenação motora, um controle da respiração, força, além do fôlego que eu ainda não tinha. Tive uma facilidade maior em aprender a nadar de costas, pelo fato do rosto ficar pouco acima do superfície da água. Não demorou muito, comecei a nadar de peito. Não gosto muito da prancha e o pára-quedas é chato por enroscar na perna, mas eu adoro usar a nadadeira!
Não lembro exatamente quanto tempo levou, mas comecei a nadar na piscina de 25m. A de 15m eu já achava péssimo nadar lá: a água era mais quente na piscina menor - era pedir para minha pressão cair, sendo que ela já é baixa normalmente. Hoje em dia, eu não consigo ficar muito tempo sem nadar. É um esporte que só me faz bem: minha respiração melhorou, eu deixei de engasgar como antes, minha postura melhorou, meu corpo ficou mais definido, minha resistência física melhorou, ganhei um pouco de peso - coisa que não conseguia de nenhuma outra maneira. Eu percorro em média 1800 metros em uma hora. Adoro a sensação de relaxamento após nadar, além de abrir meu apetite e me fazer comer como um pedreiro e dormir como uma pedra em seguida.
Meu apelido na academia é Rodrigo Phelps: era a mesma época que o atleta ganhou muita visibilidade nas olimpíadas. Eu tô muuuuuuuuuuuuito longe de nadar que nem ele, mas o pessoal de lá me chama assim.rs. Me sinto realizado por ter superado um trauma por minha decisão; e tenho orgulho de adorar e nadar sempre: seja no calor ou no frio (com piscina pré-aquecida), aqui é Rodrigo Phelps!

I've never liked beach so much. I mean, I like to go there. However, one weekend is so far so good for me. I don't like hot weather, I prefer cold climate. Despite I still enjoy going to the beach when is cold, but this is not the theme of post today.
When I lived in Japan, I got swimming classes in the school when it was summer. And there goes all the Japanese kids, passing through a mini pool, where I believe it happened some kind of cleanliness before to go to the swimming pool. I was on third year of primary school and I was the only child who didn't know how to swim. While classmates were full of excitement, I thought:"what do I do now?"
Things were going well in the school, although it was only during summertime, that was too short time to learn to swim properly. Japanese summer used to last around one month of intense heat; the climate is well-defined: if it's hot, it is infernal heat; so if it's cold, it's freezing with snow.
Then one day I went to a pool with a friend on a club. The pool was crowded and the water was a little bit under my shoulder, so it wasn't a problem for me. Nevertheless, it was for my friend, shorter than me. When I noticed he was hardly breathing, he grabbed me with all his efforts, in a way that unbalanced me; I needed to walk until the next wall of the pool, dodging the people around and carrying him, all this with water hitting me on my airways. It's unbelievable how it was so crowded and nobody noted what was happened. At last, I arrived on the wall; we were desperate to breathe and since then, pool became a trauma to me.
So when there were tours on water parks, I just didn't go. Beaches, I just went where the sea reached my waist.
The years passed. There was a moment I decided to learn to swim: people always told me it's a complete sport, because of the benefits it brings. Also I wanted to lost fear permanently. On the other hand, it demanded time and money. In August 2008, I had time after job and to be working, I had money too.
I began to challenge a 15 meters pool. I went in and followed the teacher's instructions. I had to sink my head on water and raise, walking on pool. I recorded on my first class, I could not stand even for forty minutes.
I was getting use with water with the passage of time. I was learning to swim crawl stroke: that was so hard! It requires coordination, breath control, strength, besides stamina I've not had yet. I had some easiness to learn backstroke, by the fact my face stays a little above of water's surface. I started to swim breaststroke soon. I don't like much to use board and parachute is boring by screwing in leg, but I love to wear paddle!
I don't remember exactly how long time it took me... I started to swim on a 25 meters pool. I thought it was awful to swim on the 15 meters pool that time: the water is warmer on smaller pool - it makes my blood pressure goes down; normally, my blood pressure is low indeed. Nowadays, I can't stay long without swimming. It's a sport just makes me feel good: my breath became better, it's really hard to choke, my position is corrected, my body got more defined, my stamina had improved, I gained a little weight - that's a thing I couldn't get in another way. I swim an average of 1800 meters in one hour. I love the relaxed feeling after swim, besides makes me feel starving, eat greedily and sleep like a baby after.
My nickname on academy is Rodrigo Phelps: it was the same time the athlete won much visibility on The Olympics Games. I'm absolutely far to perform as him, but I don't know why people call me that. I feel accomplished for overcoming a trauma by my own decision; and I have pride to love and swim frequently: in the heat or either in the cold (with pre heated pool), I'm Rodrigo Phelps!

Things were going well in the school, although it was only during summertime, that was too short time to learn to swim properly. Japanese summer used to last around one month of intense heat; the climate is well-defined: if it's hot, it is infernal heat; so if it's cold, it's freezing with snow.
Then one day I went to a pool with a friend on a club. The pool was crowded and the water was a little bit under my shoulder, so it wasn't a problem for me. Nevertheless, it was for my friend, shorter than me. When I noticed he was hardly breathing, he grabbed me with all his efforts, in a way that unbalanced me; I needed to walk until the next wall of the pool, dodging the people around and carrying him, all this with water hitting me on my airways. It's unbelievable how it was so crowded and nobody noted what was happened. At last, I arrived on the wall; we were desperate to breathe and since then, pool became a trauma to me.
So when there were tours on water parks, I just didn't go. Beaches, I just went where the sea reached my waist.
The years passed. There was a moment I decided to learn to swim: people always told me it's a complete sport, because of the benefits it brings. Also I wanted to lost fear permanently. On the other hand, it demanded time and money. In August 2008, I had time after job and to be working, I had money too.
I began to challenge a 15 meters pool. I went in and followed the teacher's instructions. I had to sink my head on water and raise, walking on pool. I recorded on my first class, I could not stand even for forty minutes.
I was getting use with water with the passage of time. I was learning to swim crawl stroke: that was so hard! It requires coordination, breath control, strength, besides stamina I've not had yet. I had some easiness to learn backstroke, by the fact my face stays a little above of water's surface. I started to swim breaststroke soon. I don't like much to use board and parachute is boring by screwing in leg, but I love to wear paddle!
I don't remember exactly how long time it took me... I started to swim on a 25 meters pool. I thought it was awful to swim on the 15 meters pool that time: the water is warmer on smaller pool - it makes my blood pressure goes down; normally, my blood pressure is low indeed. Nowadays, I can't stay long without swimming. It's a sport just makes me feel good: my breath became better, it's really hard to choke, my position is corrected, my body got more defined, my stamina had improved, I gained a little weight - that's a thing I couldn't get in another way. I swim an average of 1800 meters in one hour. I love the relaxed feeling after swim, besides makes me feel starving, eat greedily and sleep like a baby after.
My nickname on academy is Rodrigo Phelps: it was the same time the athlete won much visibility on The Olympics Games. I'm absolutely far to perform as him, but I don't know why people call me that. I feel accomplished for overcoming a trauma by my own decision; and I have pride to love and swim frequently: in the heat or either in the cold (with pre heated pool), I'm Rodrigo Phelps!

Especial Blur - 13. O sexto álbum do Blur é marcado por explorar elementos experimentais, psicodélicos e eletrônicos. Também é bastante inspirado no fim de namoro de Damon Albarn com Justine Frischmann. Em "Tender", quando é citado 'Tender Is The Night' refere-se ao romance homônimo de F. Scott Fitzgerald. Este som conta com os backing vocals de London Community Gospel Choir.

O chamado / The calling
Hoje tive um sonho no mínimo inusitado - tanto que eu fiz questão de postar! Nunca imaginei que fosse sonhar com algo assim e foi tão real e tão divertido!
Foi um sonho ao ar livre - o céu azul, sem nenhuma nuvem, o sol radiante, mas não estava tão quente - clima agradável para mim. No chão, a superfície coberta de grama, com algumas linhas pintadas em branco. Me observando, vi uma raquete na mão... Sim, um jogador de tênis!
O que mais me impressionou foi que havia uma adversária. Nunca havia sonhado com essa guria, mas por ser quem apareceu, achei bem legal. É uma amiga loira, alta, de olhos claros! Ou seja, era praticamente um amistoso sensacional entre Djokovic x Sharapova!!! Huahauahuahauahuahauahuahua!
E começou com ela no saque; eu olhando atentamente o movimento dela, até que a bola chega e... Ace da minha amiga! Como sou um péssimo jogador, que horrível!!! Eu no saque! Não sei como nem porque, mas ela fica aflita ao me ver sacando! E nem pra acertar a bola eu presto! Um desastre em pessoa!!!
Então com ela no saque, começo a rebater as bolas para o lado dela. Só que de repente, ela fica com sangue nos olhos! Era como se tivesse baixado de fato a Sharapova na guria: tava frente a frente para aquela tenista guerreira, 100% compenetrada no jogo, disposta a se arriscar em lances que só ela arriscaria a fazer. Da minha parte, não me amedrontei. Também fiquei sério, estava com uma segurança inabalável. Ainda disse pra ela:"manda ver!!!"
E quando tudo indicava que ia ter de fato um duelo de Titãs, um confronto histórico nunca antes visto na memória deste que vos fala... O sonho acaba. E acordo pensando:"Ué? Cadê o jogo? Cadê a grama? Cadê o sol? Cadê ela???"
Sinto que o tênis me chama.

I had an unusual dream at least today - so I decided to post it! I've never imagined that I would dream with something like this and it was so real and so funny!
It was an open air dream - the blue sky, with no clouds, the shiny sun, it was not so hot though - a good weather for me. On the floor, the surface covered with grass, with some lines painted in white. Looking to myself, I saw a racket in my hand... Yes, a tennis player!
What most impressed me was there was an adversary. I've never dreamed with this girl, but I thought it was cool for who appeared. She's a friend of mine, blond, tall, with blue eyes! In other words, it was almost an spectacular friendly match between Djokovic x Sharapova!!!
And it started with her on serve; I was looking carefully her movement, till the ball comes and... Ace! I'm an awful player, it was horrible!!! I'm on serve! I don't know how neither why, but she become afflicted seeing me on serve! And I couldn't even hit the ball! A tremendous disaster!!!
Then when she was on serve, I started to hit the balls to her side. Suddenly, she became different! It was as if she transform in Sharapova indeed: I was in front of that warrior tennis player, 100% earnest on game, willing to risk in moves only she would risk to do it. From my part, I didn't frighten. I became serious, I was with an unwavering confidence. Still I said:"C'mon!!!"
And when all guides that it would happen a duel of titans, an historic confrontation never seen before on the memory of this person who writes... The dream is over. I wake up thinking:"What? Where's the game? Where's the grass? Where's the sun? Where's she???"
I feel that tennis calls me.

Especial Blur - Blur. A faixa mais conhecida do Blur nos Estados Unidos sem dúvida é "Song 2", já que os álbum anteriores não fizeram a cabeça dos norte americanos. A idéia da música é uma paródia do Grunge e ela tocou exaustivamente nas rádios que mais se ouvia bandas Grunge.

O primeiro contato com a arte / The first touch with art
Não se pode dissociar o assunto "arte" da minha pessoa. Ok, poderia ser um expert no assunto e até ter me formado em Artes Plásticas - coisa que já passou na minha cabeça e que uma amiga em particular me diz que essa é a minha real vocação; mas isso não me impede de curtir tanta coisa que a arte pode oferecer. Particularmente falando, as artes que mais gosto são a pintura, o cinema, o teatro, a literatura, a escultura, fotografia, mangá - e claro, a música. Será que esqueci de algum?
Acredito que meu primeiro contato com a arte ocorreu ao ler um gibi do Chico Bento quando criança - aquilo abriu minha mente de uma maneira que me interessei no ato. Como alguém poderia representar uma situação através de traços, ambientes, balões com diálogos, personagens distintos, cada um com seu estilo? Provavelmente em um mesmo momento, lembro de observar desenhos na TV e me questionar como tinham movimentos.
A partir daí, comecei a "tentar" desenhar por conta própria. Não tinha técnica nenhuma, nenhuma habilidade mas não deixava de tentar - e com frequência. Belos rabiscos de uma criança com 5 anos, imagino.
Neste sentido, ir para o Japão agregou bastante para melhorar meus desenhos. A diversidade de mangás é simplesmente astronômica! Tinha de todos os tipos de história, para todo tipo de público. Nas aulas de educação artística, lembro que o professor nos levava ao parque, cada aluno escolhendo algum lugar para observar e desenhar. Tudo isso com lápis, borracha, pincéis, tinta, godê, papel e prancheta. Com um material desses em mãos, era descolar uma boa vista para ficar um bom tempo só desenhando, sem preocupação alguma.
De volta ao Brasil, fiquei mais focado em desenhar usando lápis. Há quem se lembre dos meus desenhos dos Cavaleiros do Zodíaco na época da escola. Foi um ótimo período em que praticava bastante, graças à variedade de cavaleiros e armaduras que o anime me proporcionava.
Mais adiante, resolvi fazer um curso técnico de Edificações. Comecei a fazer desenhos técnicos e arquitetônicos: desta vez, os materiais eram régua, régua T, escalímetro, esquadro, compasso, lapiseira, gabaritos, caneta nanquim e escova. Apesar de achar meio chato passar a limpo na caneta nanquim, dava orgulho de ver o resultado final.
Cheguei a pensar em fazer Arquitetura - e tinha que me preparar para a prova específica. Fiz um curso onde tive noções de luz e sombra, grafismo, proporção. Ficava horas desenhando e esquecia do tempo! Apesar de não conseguir a vaga, não quis deixar essa paixão esquecida.
Adoro ir em exposições de arte. Fico observando cada objeto artístico de perto, de longe, de vários ângulos, pensando em várias perguntas: "O que é isso? O que esse artista quis me transmitir? Quanto tempo será que ele levou pra terminar esta obra? Qual era o contexto histórico na época em que esta obra foi feita? Por que tantos detalhes, por que esta parte em destaque?" É a minha forma de ganhar repertório para os meus desenhos.
De uns anos pra cá, me esforço para separar um tempo pra desenhar. Até hoje é um momento de me desligar do mundo: é uma forma de extravasar minhas emoções através do contato entre lápis e papel. Ano passado, consegui fazer 3 desenhos. Quem sabe neste ano eu consiga chegar em 4 ou 5? Idéia é o que não falta; falta é parar pra desenhar. Com o tempo, devo postar alguns desenhos por aqui também. A minha proposta é desenhar pessoas e ambientes que me tragam uma lembrança de um bom momento, que mexam com o meu emocional.
Antes de terminar este post, provavelmente há pessoas que me perguntem: "Mas por que você fez Matemática?" Para responder esta pergunta, usaria uma frase que um ator no teatro me disse certa vez: "A ciência e a arte caminham juntas."

Well, I could be an expert in this theme and even be graduated in Arts - thing that passed in my mind and a friend of mine says that is my REAL VOCATION; but this is not stops me to enjoy so many things arts can offer. Particularly speaking, the arts I most like is paintings, cinema, performing arts, literature, sculpture, photography, Japanese comics - and of course, music. Did I miss some art?
I believe my first touch with arts happened reading a Chico Bento's comics when I was a kid - that opened my mind in a way I got interested at the same time. How could someone depict a situation through traces, environments, balloons with dialogues, different characters, each one with own style? In a same moment, I remember watching cartoons and questing how they have movements.
Thenceforth, I started trying to draw by myself. I didn't have any technique, no ability but I didn't stop trying - and frequently. Beautiful scribbles of a five years child, I imagine.
Going to Japan added me a lot to improve my drawings. The diversity of Japanese comics is simply astronomic! There were all the sorts of history, for all the kinds of public. On art's class, teacher took us to park, where each student had to choose one place to look and paint. All of this with pencil, erase, brushes, paper and clipboard. With such a material in hands, I just needed to get a good view to stay for a good time only sketching, with no worries.
Back to Brazil, I've had more focus on drawing with pencil. There are some classmates who remember of my Saint Seiya's drafts. It was a great period when I practice a lot, thanks to the variety of knights and armors which this cartoon gave me.
Later, I decided to make a Buildings class. I started to make technical and architectural drawings: this time, the materials were ruler, T-square, engineer's scale, square, compass, mechanical pencil, pen ink and brush. Despite thinking a bit boring to use pen ink, it gave me some pride to see the outcome.
I thought being graduated in Architecture - and I had to prepare myself to the specific test. Then I had a class where I learned light and shade, graphics, symmetry. It took me hours drawing and I forgot the time! Despite I didn't get the opportunity to study Architecture, I didn't want to kill this passion.
I love to go to art exhibition. I used to look each object closely, from far, from various angles, thinking in such questions: "What is this? What did this artist want to communicate me? How long time did it take him to finish this work? What was the historic context when this work was done? Why so many details, why do this part have highlight?" That's my way to gain a range to create my work.
From some years to now, I struggle to have a time to draw. It's a moment to turn myself off to the world: it's a form to vent my emotions across the contact between pencil and paper. Last year, I made 3 works. Who knows this year I can make 4 or 5? I have some ideas on my mind; I just need to stop in order to draw. Someday I should post some works here too. My purpose is drawing people and environments which brings me some good memories, which moves my emotions.
Before I finish this post, probably there are people who ask me:"But why did you choose Math?" To answer this question, I would use a quote that an actor told me once:"The science and the art walk together".

I thought being graduated in Architecture - and I had to prepare myself to the specific test. Then I had a class where I learned light and shade, graphics, symmetry. It took me hours drawing and I forgot the time! Despite I didn't get the opportunity to study Architecture, I didn't want to kill this passion.
I love to go to art exhibition. I used to look each object closely, from far, from various angles, thinking in such questions: "What is this? What did this artist want to communicate me? How long time did it take him to finish this work? What was the historic context when this work was done? Why so many details, why do this part have highlight?" That's my way to gain a range to create my work.
From some years to now, I struggle to have a time to draw. It's a moment to turn myself off to the world: it's a form to vent my emotions across the contact between pencil and paper. Last year, I made 3 works. Who knows this year I can make 4 or 5? I have some ideas on my mind; I just need to stop in order to draw. Someday I should post some works here too. My purpose is drawing people and environments which brings me some good memories, which moves my emotions.
Before I finish this post, probably there are people who ask me:"But why did you choose Math?" To answer this question, I would use a quote that an actor told me once:"The science and the art walk together".

Especial Blur - Blur. Através da sugestão de Graham Coxon, o álbum homônimo do Blur teve influências de bandas do indie rock americano, como o Pavement e Sonic Youth. Para o baterista Dave Rowntree, as composições ficaram mais agressivas e mais emocionais neste álbum. "Beetlebum" fala das experiências que Damon Albarn teve com heroína e demais drogas ao lado de sua namorada, na época a Justine Frischmann. Esta faixa também é considerada um tributo aos Beatles, por lembrar o álbum branco.

Meu primeiro grande show / My first big concert
Meu primeiro grande show é datado de 23/10/2005, no Tim Festival em São Paulo. Neste evento, havia as seguintes apresentações: Mundo Livre S/A, M.I.A., Arcade Fire, Kings Of Leon e The Strokes. Naquela época, fui com expectativas nas 3 últimas bandas: Arcade Fire era a banda do momento - pelo menos nas palavras do Lúcio Ribeiro; Kings Of Leon estava começando a ter certo destaque por aqui e os Strokes era a atração mais esperada daquela noite.
Neste show, combinei de encontrar a Andrea pessoalmente; éramos amigos só pela internet e costumávamos conversar pelo ICQ! Ela estava super empolgada em ver os Strokes ao vivo; eu confesso que não sabia bem pelo que esperar. Acredito que chegamos no meio da apresentação da M.I.A.. Não era um show que queríamos de fato ver.
A parte mais mágica da noite (pelo menos pra mim) foi quando começou o show do Arcade Fire. Ainda me lembro daquela cortina enorme caindo e assim revelar a banda canadense, composta por 7 integrantes, que mostrou um entusiasmo, uma energia contagiante, uma entrega de cada músico, com músicas lindas e cheias de lirismo - foi a primeira vez que tinha escutado os sons deles e me fascinou logo de cara! Foi um espetáculo incrível! Não seria injusto em dizer que foi um dos melhores shows que já vi até então - e olha que sou assíduo frequentador de eventos musicais desde 2005.
Já a impressão que eu tive do Kings Of Leon foi a seguinte: a música de abertura foi "Molly's Chamber" - naquela época, a música mais famosa dos irmãos Followill. O público foi ao delírio, gritou, cantou, pulou... Porém, a partir daí o que presenciei foi um silêncio na maior parte do show da parte do público. Até acho eles bons músicos, gosto da influência do rock sulista, como Tom Petty mas algo me faltou para prender a minha atenção.
A última atração da noite foi muito bem recebida: fãs ovacionando os Strokes, assim como a Andrea que gritou para o Julian Casablancas, que estava um pouco gripado - e ainda recebeu uma resposta dele na hora! Acho fantástico quando temos esse momento único e raro de troca de afeto, uma troca de palavras com um artista que a gente se identifica, às vezes até se espelha. O show em si foi muito bom por conta de que o repertório dos Strokes estava na ponta da língua dos fãs. Se não me engano, a única música que o pessoal não sabia cantar foi uma faixa inédita. Também gostei do baterista Fabrizio Moretti, brasileiro que interagiu com o público falando em português, declarando amar o país e as pessoas daqui.
Este foi o primeiro de muitos shows que estavam por vir.

I made an appointment with Andrea personally; we were friends only by the internet and we used to talk through ICQ! She was really excited to see The Strokes' live performance; I must confess I didn't know well what I wait for. I believe we arrived in the middle of M.I.A.'s gig. Actually it wasn't a concert we honestly wanted to see.
The most magical part of that night (at least to me) was when Arcade Fire comes to stage. I still remember that enormous curtain opened and then revealing the Canadian band, featuring 7 members, who showed an enthusiasm, an contagious energy, a surrender of each musician, with beautiful songs and full of lirism - it was the very first time I've heard their tunes and I got addicted straightaway! It was a marvelous spetacle! It wouldn't be unfair saying it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen - and I'm assiduous frequenter of musical events since 2005.
The impression I got Kings Of Leon was as it follows: the opening song was "Molly's Chamber" - the most famous track of Followill's brothers that time. Public went wild, screamed, sang and jump a lot... However, what I witnessed was a silence from the same people on most of the concert thenceforth. I think they are good musicians, I like southern rock influences as Tom Petty but something missed to catches my attention.
The last attraction was very well received: loads of fans cheering The Strokes, as Andrea shouted to Julian Casablancas, who was a little flu - and soon he gave her a answer! I think it's fantastic when we have this rare and unique moment of exchange of affection, exchange of words with an artist who we identify, sometimes even we mirror him. The concert was great due to the fact of Strokes' track list was on the tip of the tongue of fans. If I'm not mistaken, the only song people didn't sing was an unreleased track. Also I liked drummer Fabrizio Moretti, who is Brazilian and interacted with the public speaking in Portuguese, declaring love the country and the people.
This was the first of many concerts to come.

Especial Blur - Parklife. De última hora, resolvi postar "Tracy Jacks"! Inicialmente, pensei em citar "This Is A Low", pois foi uma faixa que os integrantes do Blur lamentaram não ter feito um single. Por outro lado, "Tracy Jacks" é mais divertido e é o tipo de som que mais me agrada vindo do Blur.

A primeira frase desta faixa ,"she said there's ants in the carpet", refere-se a uma infestação de formigas que ocorreu no lar do Damon Albarn. Na ocasião, "she" é a então namorada do vocalista, Justine Frischmann, cantora do Elastica.

Especial Blur - Parklife. Na faixa-título do álbum há versos que são ditos pelo ator inglês Phil Daniels. "Parklife" foi usada em partidas de futebol na metade dos anos 90 e também em uma propaganda da Nike. Este som fala sobre a experiência da banda em Colchester, cidade onde os integrantes da banda viveram.

Especial Blur - Parklife. "To The End" é uma faixa que Damon Albarn divide os vocais com a Lætitia Sadier cantando em francês. No ano seguinte do lançamento de "To The End", foi feita uma versão com Françoise Hardy substituindo a vocalista do Stereolab. De certa forma, entendo porque o blur faz sucesso nos países francófonos.

Um pouco de mim - influências / A little bit of me - influences
Como é o meu primeiro blog, fiquei pensando se poderia incluir um conteúdo não disponível no Facebook além dos especiais. Penso em esporadicamente postar algumas coisas que acho interessante.
Pra começar, gostaria de fazer um pequeno resumo da minha vida, sob o ponto de vista musical. Me lembro que tive uma infância onde tocava na rádio bandas como Dire Straits, Van Halen, A-ha e Phil Collins. Também era a época em que surgiu o Guns N' Roses. Até que meus pais resolveram morar no Japão e eu fui com eles.
Os 2 anos e 2 meses que passei por lá não me agregaram tanto em me manter antenado na música - embora há vários sons de videogame que até hoje acho muito bem elaborado, além de aprender um pouco de música na escola. No último ano em que morei em Ichinomiya, estava começando a conhecer o J-Pop - o que me lembro atualmente é que escutava com meus amigos bandas como Zard, B'z e Chage & Aska.
De volta ao Brasil, ainda assim demorei pra voltar a me interessar por música. Por conta deste hiato, não vivenciei o que fez sucesso naquele momento - tem vários filmes, como "Clube dos Cinco" e "Curtindo a Vida Adoidado" que só vi recentemente.
Um artista que sempre gostei mas graças à minha prima coruja fez eu conhecer melhor ainda foi Michael Jackson. Lembro que ela havia gravado umas fitas K7 com uma seleção de faixas dele, o que foi meio que uma revolução pra mim: aquela curiosidade de saber mais sobre Jacko, seus videoclipes megalomaníacos, sua trajetória musical, etc.
Falando em videoclipes, foi assim que comecei a assistir à MTV. Houve um período em que sonhava em ser um VJ: você escolhe as músicas que você gosta no seu programa e de vez em quando, entrevistava artístas, seja aqueles que vieram para uma turnê no Brasil ou até viajar para o exterior! Voltando à MTV Brasil, diria que minhas maiores influências entre os VJs seriam Chris Couto, Gastão Moreira, Fábio Massari, Kid Vinil, Marina Person e Edgard Picolli.
Quando o assunto é rádio, gostava bastante de escutar a Brasil 2000 FM. Gostava da Sessão da Tarde, apresentado pelo Maia e Tatola, atualmente na Rádio UOL 89 FM. Paralelamente, tenho o produtor Miranda como influência também. Acho válido citar o jornalista Lúcio Ribeiro, o qual sempre traz informações do mundo da música - só as enciclopédias musicais ambulantes! rs
Como músico, fiz aulas de música no Japão, além de aprender a tocar algumas coisas no baixo ao ver meus amigos músicos tocando. Um autodidata curioso que se aventura a aprender diversos instrumentos - guitarra, violão, baixo, gaita, flauta... Não tenho tanta coordenação pra bateria e nunca fiz um curso pra valer também. Ah, já participei de coral numa empresa onde trabalhei, então aprendi um pouco na prática de como cantar.
Atualizado:prima coruja não só colaborou pelo meu interesse em música pop, mas também em músicas em francês e músicas típicas da Irlanda, com auxílio de Claudio Crow e Jorge Suíno. Além de procurar me informar sobre o que faz sucesso no Japão, a Andrea, que é minha influência a uma década, ainda me divulga bandas alemãs que ela curte.
Hoje em dia, minha fonte de conhecimento musical seriam meus amigos (tem uns que sabem muuuuuuuito mais do que eu inclusive!), além do hábito de se informar, seja por revista (leio a Rolling Stone Brasil), seja pela internet (sites como da NME, BBC, Guardian, por exemplo).
Desde agosto do ano passado, tenho escutado rádios de Londres, entre elas a XFM e a BBC Radio 6. Virei fã de Mary Anne Hobbs, uma radialista que é fonte inesgotável de entusiasmo e bastante reverenciada na terra da rainha, além de ter ajudado a difundir o dubstep. O programa dela é sempre tão eclético e imprevisível, característica que me faz escutá-la religiosamente.
Creio que a partir do que escrevi, dá pra ter uma boa idéia do meu gosto musical. Muito justo também afirmar que estou sempre em processo de aprendizado - gosto de conversar sobre música, de conhecer pessoas com esse perfil e que role essa troca de experiências musicais de maneira sadia, tudo dentro do respeito. Não sei tudo sobre música, mas gosto tanto quanto quem mais entende do assunto. Prefiro ir pela humildade sempre.

As this is my first blog, I have thought if I could include some content unavailable on Facebook beyond the Specials. I think sporadically to post something I consider interesting.
Firstly, I would like to make a brief summary of my life, from the musical point of view. I remember I had a childhood which I used to listen to the radio bands like Dire Straits, Van Halen, A-ha and Phil collins. Also it was the same moment that appeared Guns N' Roses. Then my parents took me to Japan.
The 2 years and 2 months I passed there doesn't added me musically so much - although there are some game's songs that I think it's well done until today, beyond I learnt music a little on the school. The last year I lived in Ichinomiya, I was started to know J-Pop - what reminds me when I was with my friends is that I listen to groups such as Zard, B'z and Chage & Aska.
Back to Brazil, it took me some time to get back to be interested in music. Because of this gap, I didn't experienced certain moments - there are some film, like "The Breakfast Club" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" that I saw recently.
An artist that I always like him but thanks to my cousin she made me know him better was Michael Jackson. I remember she recorded some tapes with her own track's selection; it was one kind of revolution for me: that curiosity of know more about Jacko, his megalomaniac music video productions, his musical career, etc.
Talking about music videos, that's when I started to watch MTV. There was a time I dreamt to be a VJ: you choose songs you like on your program and once in a while, interviewing artists, those who came to Brazil or even go abroad! Back to MTV Brazil, I would say my biggest influences among VJs are Chris Couto, Gastão Moreira, Fábio Massari, Kid Vinil, Marina Person and Edgard Picolli.
When the subject is radio, I liked a lot listen to Brasil 2000 FM. I liked a show presented by Maia and Tatola - they work on Radio UOL 89 FM. At the same time, I have the musical producer Miranda as my influence too. It's worth to mention journalist Lúcio Ribeiro, who always brings pop music information. These guys are like walking musical encyclopedia!
As a musician, I made some music classes on Japan, in addition to learn to play some songs on bass watching my friends playing. A curious self-taught who adventures to learn loads of instruments, such as guitar, bass, harmonica, flute... I don't have coordination enough to play drums and I've never had a class to learn to play, except flute in Japan. I was one of the members of a coral of a company I worked for, so I learnt a little how to sing.
Updated:my cousin didn't colaborated to my interest in pop music only, but also in French songs and typical Irish songs, with Claudio Crow and Jorge Suíno's help. I used to looking for musical scenario from Japan by myself and Andrea, who are my influence from the last 10 years, still show me German bands which she enjoys them.
Nowadays, my source of musical knowledge are my friends (there are some who knows very much than me), some magazines (I read Rolling Stone from Brazil) or internet (websites such as NME, BBC, the Guardian).
Since August of last year, I used to listen to London's radio stations, between XFM and the BBC Radio 6 Music. I became Mary Anne Hobbs' fan, a broadcaster who is an inexhaustible source of enthusiasm and very revered on U.K., besides she helped to disseminate dubstep. Her show is always so eclectic and unpredictable, features that makes me listen her religiously.
I believe from I wrote it gives you a good idea of my taste of music. It's fair to say I'm always on process of learning - I like to talk about music, to know people who have this profile and change these kinds of musical experiences in a healthful and respectful way. I prefer to be modest always.

Pra começar, gostaria de fazer um pequeno resumo da minha vida, sob o ponto de vista musical. Me lembro que tive uma infância onde tocava na rádio bandas como Dire Straits, Van Halen, A-ha e Phil Collins. Também era a época em que surgiu o Guns N' Roses. Até que meus pais resolveram morar no Japão e eu fui com eles.
Os 2 anos e 2 meses que passei por lá não me agregaram tanto em me manter antenado na música - embora há vários sons de videogame que até hoje acho muito bem elaborado, além de aprender um pouco de música na escola. No último ano em que morei em Ichinomiya, estava começando a conhecer o J-Pop - o que me lembro atualmente é que escutava com meus amigos bandas como Zard, B'z e Chage & Aska.
De volta ao Brasil, ainda assim demorei pra voltar a me interessar por música. Por conta deste hiato, não vivenciei o que fez sucesso naquele momento - tem vários filmes, como "Clube dos Cinco" e "Curtindo a Vida Adoidado" que só vi recentemente.
Um artista que sempre gostei mas graças à minha prima coruja fez eu conhecer melhor ainda foi Michael Jackson. Lembro que ela havia gravado umas fitas K7 com uma seleção de faixas dele, o que foi meio que uma revolução pra mim: aquela curiosidade de saber mais sobre Jacko, seus videoclipes megalomaníacos, sua trajetória musical, etc.
Falando em videoclipes, foi assim que comecei a assistir à MTV. Houve um período em que sonhava em ser um VJ: você escolhe as músicas que você gosta no seu programa e de vez em quando, entrevistava artístas, seja aqueles que vieram para uma turnê no Brasil ou até viajar para o exterior! Voltando à MTV Brasil, diria que minhas maiores influências entre os VJs seriam Chris Couto, Gastão Moreira, Fábio Massari, Kid Vinil, Marina Person e Edgard Picolli.
Quando o assunto é rádio, gostava bastante de escutar a Brasil 2000 FM. Gostava da Sessão da Tarde, apresentado pelo Maia e Tatola, atualmente na Rádio UOL 89 FM. Paralelamente, tenho o produtor Miranda como influência também. Acho válido citar o jornalista Lúcio Ribeiro, o qual sempre traz informações do mundo da música - só as enciclopédias musicais ambulantes! rs
Como músico, fiz aulas de música no Japão, além de aprender a tocar algumas coisas no baixo ao ver meus amigos músicos tocando. Um autodidata curioso que se aventura a aprender diversos instrumentos - guitarra, violão, baixo, gaita, flauta... Não tenho tanta coordenação pra bateria e nunca fiz um curso pra valer também. Ah, já participei de coral numa empresa onde trabalhei, então aprendi um pouco na prática de como cantar.
Atualizado:prima coruja não só colaborou pelo meu interesse em música pop, mas também em músicas em francês e músicas típicas da Irlanda, com auxílio de Claudio Crow e Jorge Suíno. Além de procurar me informar sobre o que faz sucesso no Japão, a Andrea, que é minha influência a uma década, ainda me divulga bandas alemãs que ela curte.
Hoje em dia, minha fonte de conhecimento musical seriam meus amigos (tem uns que sabem muuuuuuuito mais do que eu inclusive!), além do hábito de se informar, seja por revista (leio a Rolling Stone Brasil), seja pela internet (sites como da NME, BBC, Guardian, por exemplo).
Desde agosto do ano passado, tenho escutado rádios de Londres, entre elas a XFM e a BBC Radio 6. Virei fã de Mary Anne Hobbs, uma radialista que é fonte inesgotável de entusiasmo e bastante reverenciada na terra da rainha, além de ter ajudado a difundir o dubstep. O programa dela é sempre tão eclético e imprevisível, característica que me faz escutá-la religiosamente.
Creio que a partir do que escrevi, dá pra ter uma boa idéia do meu gosto musical. Muito justo também afirmar que estou sempre em processo de aprendizado - gosto de conversar sobre música, de conhecer pessoas com esse perfil e que role essa troca de experiências musicais de maneira sadia, tudo dentro do respeito. Não sei tudo sobre música, mas gosto tanto quanto quem mais entende do assunto. Prefiro ir pela humildade sempre.
