Um dos sonhos mais clássicos que tive e que as pessoas costumam ter é sonhar com uma voz doce te dizendo: "Você pode realizar todos os seus sonhos." Não há mais nada além da voz: é uma completa escuridão. Você fica na expectativa da continuação, se há uma próxima frase, algum aconselhamento que te auxilie neste devaneio, até que o sonho acaba, você acorda e rola aquela quebra de clímax.

Recentemente, fui convidado para uma festa de final de ano organizado pela minha ex-professora de inglês, Paula. Como eu a chamo carinhosamente de "Braba", eu nomeei o evento de "Braba Fest". Diria que é uma confraternização em um pub dos alunos dela e da Cris, que também é professora. Particularmente falando, eu gosto bastante do Braba Fest: não só pelo motivo de que se eu não for, ela fica "braba" comigo, mas é uma oportunidade de conhecer novas pessoas, às vezes até estrangeiros, praticar um pouco de speaking além de tomar ótimas cervejas e matar a saudade da Braba. Ah, rola sorteio de presentes e ainda ganhei cupcakes deliciosos!

Na segunda edição que eu participei do Braba Fest, quem me surpreendeu foi a Cris. Na primeira vez, quase não falei com ela; apenas pensei: que professora bonita a amiga da Braba. Mas até aí, nada demais. Até que desta vez ao conversar com ela, concluí: que mulher bondosa! Tal como a expressão facial, era como se ela escolhesse a dedo cada palavra para transmitir tamanho afeto! Ela é naturalmente gentil, o que a torna muito cativante!

Ao me despedir da Cris, ela me perguntou:
- "Você tem muitas ambições?"
- "Eu sou uma pessoa de poucas ambições."
- "É melhor que seja assim mesmo... de poucas ambições. Eu desejo que suas poucas ambições se realizem no ano que vem!"

Quando ela disse esta última frase, senti que de fato desejou isso do âmago dela; algo era diferente: a respiração, talvez a voz um pouco trêmula, o olhar. Ou talvez foi a imaginação de um semi ébrio de saída do pub. Eu senti também que, por algum motivo, as palavras dela tinham algum tipo de poder.

Logo me lembrei do sonho: me senti como seria se eu pudesse ver quem me direcionava aquela frase. Sei que não eram as mesmas palavras, mas ambas me serviram como um incentivo. Fiquei com aquele momento na cabeça, até que eu vi uma foto da Cris e me inspirou para um próximo desenho.

Inicialmente, pensei em mangás estilo da Clamp (grupo de desenhistas de mangá conhecidos por seus personagens com ricos detalhes em seus figurinos e ilustrações belíssimas). Ao colocar a idéia no papel, senti que poderia ser a primeira pessoa que eu faria uma versão em desenho japonês. É um desafio e tanto criar um desenho que passe a mesma comoção ao ver o sorriso de alguém.

Volto a aplicar as emoções para criar os efeitos especiais em torno da personagem. Se é para fazer um mangá, é interessante ter um quê de mágico, de energia, de aura... Optei em círculos com a finalidade de mostrar uma energia que flui através de movimentos circulares, como os movimentos adotados na prática do Tai Chi Chuan. Acredito que foi a melhor maneira para retratar uma pessoa que é calma, gentil e carinhosa.

Eu não costumo desenhar pessoas ao acaso. É difícil de eu atender a pedidos, tem que ser algo por iniciativa própria. E essa pessoa tem que ter alguma característica marcante, alguma atitude original, que me desperte algum sentimento. Feliz é a Braba de ter uma amiga como a Cris por perto!

Um ano novo fantástico para todos e que nossos sonhos/ambições/desejos se realizem!!!

One of the most classic dreams I had and also people use to have is to dream of a sweet voice saying: "You may achieve all of your dreams." There's nothing beyond the voice: it's a complete darkness. You linger on expectation of a sequence, if there's a next phrase, some advice which help you on this wandering, until the dream's over, you wake up and then, breaking climax.

Recently, I was invited to an end of year party organised by my former English teacher, Paula. Since I call her affectionately "Braba" (means "angry" in Portuguese), I named this event as "Braba Fest". I would say this is a fraternization in a pub with her students and Cris' students,who also is teacher. Personally speaking, I enjoy a lot Braba Fest: it's not just for the reason that if I don't go, she becomes "braba" with me, but it's an opportunity to know new people, sometimes even foreigners, to practice a little of speaking as well as drink great beers together with Braba. In addition to this, there's a game of chance and I got delicious cupcakes!

In the second edition I took part of Braba Fest, who amazed me was Cris. First time I almost didn't talk to her; I just thought: what a beautiful teacher is Braba's friend. But then, nothing unusual. When I was talking to her, soon I concluded: what a kind-hearted woman! As her facial expression, seemed like she chooses any word to transmit such tenderness. She's naturally delightful, what makes her very captivating!

Before I said "See ya!", she had asked me:
- "Do you have many ambitions?"
- "I'm a person with few ambitions."
- "It's better to be like that... with few ambitions. I wish your few ambitions come to reality next year!"

When she said this last phrase, I felt she wished this from the bottom of her heart indeed; something was different: her breathing, maybe the voice was a little trembling, her way of look at me. Or maybe it's just an imagination of an almost drunken boy leaving the place. Furthermore, I felt that, for some reason, her words had some kind of power.

Instantly I remembered of my dream: I felt how it would be if I could see who drove me that saying. I know they're not the same words, but both served me as a fuel. I stuck with that moment in my head, up to I saw Cris' picture which inspired me to a next drawing.

Firstly, I though in Japanese comics such as Clamp's style (a group of manga artists, recognized by their features with rich details in their clothes and beautiful illustrations). When I started to put the idea on paper, I sensed it may be the first person I would create a version in Japanese comics. It's a tough task to create a draw which is able to pass the same commotion someone would send it with a smile.

I went back to explore emotions to make special effects around the character. If it's in order to make a manga, it's interesting to have a touch of magic, energy, aura... I chose circles forms, trying to show a energy which flows through circular movements, like Tai Chi Chuan's moves. I believe it's best way to portray a calm, kind and loving person.

I don't use to draw people randomly. I don´t like to attend requests; it must be something by my own decision. Moreover, this person needs to have some highlighted feature, some original attitude, which wakes me up a feeling. Braba is a happy person having Cris as friend by her side!
